Waltham Forest tea towels
From March - June 2014, I worked with Create London and the Barbican to develop a series of locally themed design products inspired by the borough of Waltham Forest.
The first towel was created as part of the Season Hitchcock's East End. Taking inspiration from Alfred Hitchcock's 1963 classic The Birds, I designed a tea towel featuring thirteen rare breeds found within the borough. The towel features illustrations from designers and artists based in the borough.
They were then sold at Vestry House Museum, the location for a weekend of screenings of Hitchcock's classic.
The proceeds from the sale of the towels went to local arts initiative, the E17 Arts Trail.
The second towel was themed around the Walthamstow May Day Dog Show, held annually by the Friends of Lloyd Park. The winners of each unique and unconventional category have been illustrated by artists who live or work in Waltham Forest.
